where every decision impacts the story's outcome in this immersive, choice-driven adventure.
Story
A young profiler is assigned an unusual case that takes him from Brussels to London, where he investigates an
improbable double murder. During his inquiry, he encounters a mysterious stranger who draws him into a world of
secrets, eventually unveiling the truth about the inhabitants of Earth. As the plot unfolds, Alex will have to
deal with these newfound knowledge and will have to decide how much he trusts this enigmatic man and whether to
forge an alliance with him. Together, they embark on a challenging journey to solve the perplexing double
murder.
This narrative serves as a
prequel to the primary series.
Why a website for a game?
A first version of this story exists in the form of a visual novel created with Ren'Py, a few years ago. You
can find all the information
here and on the website
Memoirs of a Veillorz.
This site is dedicated to the version currently in development. This new version is made under Unreal Engine.
This time, the person who will embody Alex, will be able to move around the places to visit, interact with the
environment, etc. There will also be small games integrated to look for objects, practice shooting and other.
There will still be interactive maps to move and travel from city to city and in cities.
In this version, it will also be possible to take control of another character, while the current version only
allows you to have the story of this part of the game.
Alex will have to solve puzzles, talk to several people, accept or not certain situations and make choices that
are not possible in the current version.
This version will be enhanced with about twenty cinematic sequences compared to the two that exist today.
There will still be a choice between the two narratives as in the current version.
Music and sound effects created by Serge Longoulet who created the entire musical universe for Memoirs of a
Veillorz and the spin-off, will be added to improve the user experience.
Some of the unique features of this project
- An original story with multiple scenarios.
- Close collaboration with a composer for vintage-style music and sound
effects. Exclusive making-of videos for the music and sound effects.
- No use of AI for 3D or C++, only for the voice creation via elevenlabs.io.
- Collaboration with other small studios.
- One of the stories from an original SciFi series.
How to support this project?
This project is entirely done by me for all the programming part,
creation of environments, etc. Only a few alien characters that only exist in 2D today will be created in 3D by
people who know how to sculpt much better than me in order to have beautiful renderings. These characters will
also be used in several other stories of the cycle. The music will be done by Serge, as always. The texts must
also be corrected in French and English. Some texts will be modified, others added and will therefore require a
new correction/translation in both languages. I will probably ask a little assistance from a small studio to
finalize some animations. The voices are created via elevenlabs.io, in order to have the same voices in the
different languages and for all the stories. Some already exist in audiobook and/or graphic audiobook and it
is important to me that each character remains associated with their voice in each story.
In short, all this takes time and also costs money, not to mention that I have to be able to free up time to
devote myself to the migration of the two games (this one and Become Veillorz), to the migration of the two interactiv stories created with Twine and to the creation of the
following ones.
For help me in this endeavor, you can subscribe to my
Tipeee, my
Patreon and contribute to the funding campaign when it is
open.
I will regularly make blog posts on the progress of this project. Information will be distilled in the
newsletter dedicated to the Memoirs of a Veillorz (in French only).
